Corbett National Park: India’s oldest and one of the finest national parks, spread over 1318 sq. km in the Himalayan foothills. The park is famous for its open grasslands, dense forests, and the Ramganga River flowing through its length. Named after the legendary hunter-naturalist Jim Corbett, the park is also India’s first and largest Tiger Reserve sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund. It is home to more than 50 species of mammals, 580 species of birds, and 25 reptile species.

Day 02 : Corbett
Arrive at Corbett and check into the hotel. After breakfast, morning at leisure to relax and enjoy resort facilities. After lunch, proceed for an adventurous jeep safari into the park for wildlife viewing and to spot the majestic tigers.
Corbett has the highest density of tigers in India (approximately one every 10 sq. km) and was the launch site of the prestigious Project Tiger in 1973. The park is also home to four species of deer — hog deer, sambar, chital, and barking deer — along with wild boars, elephants, Himalayan black bears, sloth bears, wild dogs (dhole), and several smaller cats. Bird lovers can enjoy spotting over 580 species of colorful birds including pheasants, jungle fowl, hornbills, and water birds.

Booked this two days ahead and everything was planned and confirmed very quickly. Driver, Sonu promptly picked us up at 2am and off we went to Agra. He has some serious driving skills and got us there safely despite the traffic. Agra We met Hemant who was our guide and he took us around the best spots to take pictures, told us about the history and it was a great experience to see the Taj Mahal at sunrise with few people. Breakfast was next at a nice hotel and then there was a visit to a couple of shops. No pressure to buy though the shopkeepers told a great story on the local handicrafts. We finished at Agra fort which was great. By then it was super warm and we had finished the tour at noon rather that 2pm. Too full from breakfast, we skipped lunch and went back to Delhi. In retrospect, it would have been nice to visit the baby Taj but next time! Thanks for a great tour, organized really well
